Non Valley and Molveno
NON VALLEY AND MOLVENO: MOTORCYCLE TOUR IN THE TRENTINO SOUTH TYROL WEST
Having become famous for its apples, the Non Valley is a perfect itinerary on two wheels to do in any season, suitable for those who are looking for an excellent mix of panoramas, ups and downs, curves and spectacular lakes. Less known than other famous mountain itineraries, first of all that of the Stelvio Pass or of the various routes in Trentino Alto Adige such as the one in the Funes Valley, a motorcycle tour in Non Valley and Molveno attracts those motorcyclists looking for a route less travelled - certainly romantic - but still able to offer breathtaking scenery, where woods, meadows, lakes, peaks and medieval strongholds mix.
This valley is in fact the starting point for many hikers along the Brenta Dolomites and the Ortles group, but also for lovers of trekking and walking towards the lakes of Caldaro and Molveno, the artificial lake of Santa Giustina, Lake San Felice and Lake Tovel. The latter in particular gave a lot of echo to the valley, which became popular for turning red following the flowering of an alga (a natural phenomenon unique in the world). But now let's go more specifically, describing the curves and challenges to be faced along the route and chosen by Roadsitalia, giving the right gas to have fun grinding the asphalt.

NON VALLEY AND MOLVENO BY MOTORCYCLE: THE ROADSITALIA ROUTE
Our motorbike tour in Non Valley and Molveno starts in the direction of Cavedago, easily reachable from Trento, the city of the Council. From Cavedago along the SS421 one arrives in a few kilometers in Molveno, already visible from a distance from its lake. We are at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites and in the Adamello Brenta Natural Park: a completely unique alpine spectacle, thanks also to which Lake Molveno has been awarded for several years as the most beautiful lake in Italy by Legambiente. After the ritual stop to take some souvenir photos and visit the village, we set off again in the saddle continuing on the SS421 passing Nembia and Fraveggio.
We are in the Vallelaghi area, where we recommend to beer lovers a stop at the Rethia Brewery (a real must among the centaurs of the area) or to continue until the next stop: Toblino Castle. Today a restaurant, it is one of the most famous fortresses in Trentino, both for its unique position and the beautiful natural context that surrounds it.

First born as a small temple dedicated to the "cult of the fairy" who resided on the island, it later became a fortification with a military function and finally a residence. The journey on two wheels continues between the curves immersed in the green of the SS237 and SP34, where we reach and pass Stenico and then Pinzolo (both valid for a visit), before climbing towards Madonna di Campiglio at over 1,500 meters above sea level. This famous ski resort needs no introduction, it is a small jewel nestled in the Dolomites and surrounded by the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park. A few kilometers from here (less than 8) - if the season and the weather permit - we suggest you go up to Passo Campo Carlo Magno, a pass travelled by a medieval road on a prehistoric track, perfect for hiking and walking in the woods.

We are at the halfway point, but no less intriguing than the first stretch. From Madonna di Campiglio we continue to Cles, always following the SS239 which in this section will gift us with numerous panoramic points and places not to be missed. Examples are the Pison Waterfall, the Caldes Castle and the Santa Giustina Lake. Last but not least, Lake Tovel (via SP14) and Thun Castle (via SP73) are missing. Lake Tovel is within the Adamello Brenta Natural Park, it is really worth visiting for its colors and the exceptional nature of a place that is particularly rich from a botanical and faunal point of view. The Thun Castle instead - also called Buonconsiglio Castle - is an imposing and austere 16th century stronghold, the ancient home of one of the most powerful feudal families in the region. Its panoramic position with respect to the entire Non Valley makes it visible from km away, surrounded by a complex system of fortifications with towers, walls, patrol path and moat.
