THE THREE LAKES MOTORCYCLE TOUR: BETWEEN THE LAKES OF TRENTINO AND LOMBARDY
THE THREE LAKES MOTORCYCLE TOUR: BETWEEN THE LAKES OF TRENTINO AND LOMBARDY.
For Italian bikers, the three lakes motorcycle tour is a recurring and frequent two-wheeled experience in various regions of our peninsula. A good example of this is that of the three volcanic lakes of Lazio and another excellent example is the famous and beaten tour of the three northern lakes near Lake Garda. Despite the various variations and customizations available for this itinerary, we at Roadsitalia will go to touch Lake Idro, that of Ledro and obviously Lake Garda (our starting point from Salò). Some motorcyclists opt to continue from Lake Idro to Lake Iseo in the Bergamo area - passing through the fascinating Val Trompia - but this depends on preferences and the time available. The three lakes motorcycle tour between Trentino and Lombardy is a wonderful experience, full of hairpin bends, ups and downs in the hills and breathtaking views typical of the Italian eastern pre-Alpine context. Now you just need to find out and ride it together.

THE THREE LAKES MOTORCYCLE TOUR: THE ROADSITALIA ROUTE
The starting point is Salò, a small gem of the Riviera dei Limoni on the Brescia side south-west of Lake Garda. Famous for its mild climate, for its vegetation made up of cypresses, olive trees and oleanders and for its proximity to the Vittoriale degli Italiani in D'Annunzio, Salò has been an international tourist resort for more than a century. From here follow the SS45Bis, passing Toscolano Maderno and Gargnano, then taking the succession of uphill bends of the SP9. The curves give emotions and postcard landscapes on Lake Garda, especially if the weather is mild and clear, which will often make you stop to admire the panorama close to the lake shores. Grinding km and penetrating along the Lombard-Trentino Prealps, you pass the small and uncontaminated Lake of Valvestino (famous for its dam); here the SP9 gives way to the SP58 which beyond the locality of Bottone, descends to the valley, taking us to the foot of Lake Idro. We are on the southern shores of this basin - probably one of the less famous Lombard lakes in the province of Brescia - but in reality nestled between wild mountain contexts and charming villages. In fact, there are many villages with strong traditions and popular folklore: first of all Bagolino and its Carnival which, together with the Erbusco Carnival, is one of the most important in the province of Brescia.

Valle Sabbia and Lake Idro have a lot to offer the visitor. There are numerous paths immersed in nature, such as pleasant walks with panoramic views and hiking trails, such as the one that leads to Lago della Vacca. It is often easy to come across real open-air museums, where the remains of the trenches of the two world wars rest. Not to be missed here are the paths that lead to the San Giovanni Castle or to the Rocca d'Anfo in the vicinity of the lake perimeter. After passing Lake Idro, we actually enter Trentino Alto Adige and proceeding along the SS237, we pass Lodrone and at Ca 'Rossa, we detour along the SS240 to Storo.

From here the road returns uphill and the curves make the route very fun. We suggest stopping first at the d'Àmpola Waterfall at least for a souvenir photo and then as soon as you reach the Passo d'Àmpola - at about 800 meters above sea level - for the grandeur and beauty of its territory. There are a handful of kilometers to get to our third lake, that is Lake Ledro. We returned a few kilometers west of the northern portion of Lake Garda (Molina di Ledro and Riva del Garda are only 14 km away). With its circumference of about 10Km, Lake Ledro can be visited quickly and dominates the entire Ledro Valley. During the summer, it becomes the ideal destination for family holidays. In fact, Lake Ledro offers all kinds of outdoor activities (such as kayaking or canoeing, many hiking trails and mapped cycle and pedestrian paths suitable for anyone) etc.. . Continuing towards the last stretch of the SS240, we rejoin Riva del Garda, an excellent location for a culinary break, or to reconnect to the SS45Bis that runs along the west shore of Lake Garda and return to Salò.

USEFUL ADVICE ON THE THREE LAKES MOTORCYCLE TOUR
A beautiful tour on two wheels that embraces three lakes between Lombardy and Trentino. They are a total of 150-160 km of emotion for a total of about 4 hours, without considering the various stops along the way. It is better to ride the route from summer to autumn: in winter despite the low altitudes, ice, cold and some unexpected events (roads closed due to snow) can make it more complex. Obviously, the hours of light available also play in favor. And you? Have you ever done this motorcycle tour of the three northern lakes? Tell them in the comments below.

Giro dei tre laghi
By: Fausto On January 22nd 2023Ciao. Cosa dire.........posti davvero belli, strade panoramiche . Ciao a tutti '
